Lipidation

Attaching a fatty acid to a peptide, often through a linker on a lysine side chain. The fatty acid mediates binding to albumin. Liraglutide, semaglutide and tirzepatide are lipidated peptides.

In the lab

Lipidated peptides are amphiphilic and more prone to aggregation in solution. Dissolving slowly without shaking and using low-binding tubes helps.
