Bacteriostatic water
Sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The additive inhibits bacterial growth, so an opened container can be drawn from several times. In the lab it serves as a solvent.
In the lab
Bacteriostatic water does not always suit cell experiments, because benzyl alcohol can interfere. Sterile water without additives is then the better choice.
