Peptide glossary · Basics
Peptide
A chain of amino acids joined by peptide bonds. The boundary to a protein is usually put at about 50 amino acids. Short peptides are named by length: di-, tri-, tetra- or pentapeptide.
In the lab
Research peptides are usually made by chemical synthesis, purified and supplied as a lyophilisate. Name, sequence and lot analysis together identify a peptide clearly.
